About a year ago, Ruby started asking about doing our family portraits again, it had been over 3 years since our last session. One thing that we are big on is capturing special moments in our lives, whether its with our phone camera, an SLR camera or hiring a professional photographer. It seems like just yesterday I was holding my little boy in my arms and now he is a senior green belt in Tae Kwan Do. Time flies and capturing these moments in time is important.
A Story in Time Photography belongs to a good friend of ours. We first met Jessie Cadenas over 20 years ago when her brother Joe and I worked together in Pomona, California. Over the years we watched as she took something that she loved, and turned it into her passion, her art. Jessie is one of the most talented photographers I have ever met. She truly cares about each and every one of her clients. Most, if not all, become her friends. She has a way of making everyone feel at ease as she captures amazing images. But they are more than just images on a screen, she captures all the love and emotion that couples and families share; locking that special moment forever on her artistic canvas. Her constant banter on the photo shoot is sprinkled throughout with posing tips to accentuate her clients best features, and more than a few light hearted jokes to lighten the mood.
Lets face it, today cameras are plentiful and cheap. One would beg the question, why hire a photographer? The answer is a simple one, because hiring a great photographer can make simple photographs amazing ones. Attention to details such as lighting, shadows and the surroundings, can make all the difference. But a word of warning, there are many people out there that claim to be photographers and are nothing more than hacks that have a bare bones knowledge of how to operate their camera and no clue about anything else. Do your homework and ask for references before you agree to hire someone. These images are your families life moments, they should be captured by an artist, someone who really loves what they do.
