Star Trek Beyond - The 3rd Installment in the Franchise Reboot is a Fun Watch

The movie begins with the Enterprise three years into its five-year deep-space mission when  encounter Krall (played by Idris Elba), a reptilian like alien searching for an “ancient weapon” artifact that is in the possession of Captain Kirk aboard the Enterprise. Sadly the Enterprise NCC 1701 is destroyed early in the movie by Krall.  But never fear, a better and more powerful version will be ready for the next movie.  

Rest in Peace Leonard Nemoy

The crew is once again led by Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Sulu (John Cho), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Bones (Karl Urban), Scotty (Simon Pegg), and Chekov (Anton Yelchin). Sadly Anton Yelchin died, at age 27, a few months ago in a tragic accident. Tribute is payed to Leonard Nimoy as well in this latest version. The cast is joined by newcomer Jaylah (Sofia Boutella). She quickly becomes an integral part of the Enterprise crew, helping to save them from a terrible fate at the hands of Krall.  I do hope that she comes back in future installments of this long last amazing franchise.  

This is a fun and exciting addition to the Star Trek movies franchise and my son and I are looking forward to the next installment.
